Taunton 10K

As a club we have always been committed to running training sessions for both of our home races, the Taunton 10k taking place each September and the Taunton Half Marathon, which takes place early April. Encouraging new runners has always been a fundamental principle of the club and there is no better incentive than to prepare potential runners to run in our local races. It is our belief that with the correct training, advice and encouragement there is no reason why anyone in reasonable health cannot train to compete in both a 10K and a half marathon distance.

This year we will be running two training programs. One for existing or returning runners takes as a base point a distance of two miles and the sole condition for entry to this training program is that you can run at least this distance without stopping. For runners who are new to the sport or those who are unable to run the two mile qualifying distance there is a beginner's program. This takes runners from a starting point of a combination of running and walking and progresses over the ten week period to the distance of 10k.

New Forest Marathon - more...

The club races this year are the New Forest Marathon and Half Marathon which will take place on Sunday 21st September. We have a training group running at the moment for the marathon. See Mike at the Wednesday training sessions or email him from here for more details.

10k Training - more...
This year's 10k training program starts on 23rd July and runs for 10 weeks. There will be two groups. One for runners who can run at least two miles and another for absolute beginner runners. Both groups will take runners on a structured program to enable members to run and complete the Taunton 10k on 28th September. For more details on the training program click here.
